Christ in the Feast of Hanukkah
This week on Renewal you'll meet a Jewish believer who will help us understand a special Jewish holiday called Hanukkah. Gene and his special guest will explore the Jewish heart of Christianity in Hanukkah. Over the years, Jewish people have survived every form of persecution, every effort to wipe them off the face of the earth. But in the Scriptures, God made a promise to Abraham that He would never forsake His people and God has never forgotten His promise.
We're rapidly approaching Christmas--a day we set aside to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. But do you realize that there is a Jewish feast that coincides with this time of the year? It's called Hanukkah--the Festival of Lights.

Wise Men Still Seek Him
As we look forward to celebrating the birth of Christ, our host and teacher on Renewal, Dr. Gene Getz, will be bringing a message entitled "Wise Men Still Seek Him." The Wise Men had a supernatural experience when they discovered that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. Becoming a Christian is a supernatural experience. That's why it's called the new birth--being born again. This week Gene will be sharing with us what really happened when the Wise Men came to see Jesus Christ.

Sometime in our life we will all face grief--an intense emotion that we all have to work through with each loss. But have you ever met someone who has gone through a significant loss in their life--but their face says that this isn't real? This kind of reaction is normal--some call it denial. All this week on Renewal our host, Dr. Gene Getz, will have a conversation with his special guest who has experienced the many faces of grief through the loss of her husband at a relatively young age. Join us as they discuss the many faces of grief.

Learning about Lou Gehrig's Disease
Many of us have heard of Lou Gehrig's disease--also called ALS. A diagnosis of ALS is followed by the deterioration of the body in the coming months and years. Patients soon lose their ability to work and maintain financial independence. This week on Renewal we will be talking with a very special man named Paul Lanier. For over 10 years he has suffered from Lou Gehrig's disease. Because of God's sovereign grace combined with the wonderful support of family and friends, Paul is still able to communicate with the help of a computer. In fact, he painstakingly wrote a book that tells his story entitled "A Change in the Flight Plan"--a book about his relationship with God and things he discovered in the Bible.

Trick or Treat?
Many questions have been raised about Halloween. Should Christians participate in Halloween? Should we simply ignore it? Should we vigorously attack it? What should our attitude be towards Halloween? This week on Renewal we'll be looking at the history of Halloween and the biblical principles involved for the believer regarding our participation in the annual festivities. What should Christian parents be weighing in their minds as they decide if their children should participate and, if so, to what degree? Join our host, Dr. Gene Getz, on Renewal as Gene shows us what the Bible says about this issue.

What does a wife or husband do when a mate is trapped in an addiction? What if you're both in a key leadership role in your local church? "Deep down I always wanted help. I just didn't know how to get past the pride, the shame, and the guilt." These are the words of our guest on Renewal all this week. But underneath the pressure of alcoholism there lay yet another secret--the secret that continued to drive this man's drinking. Join our host, Dr. Gene Getz this week on Renewal for this incredible story.

Lord, Help My Unbelief
What is it like to be a homegrown atheist--a person whose country denies the existence of God? God uses a variety of ways to convince people He exists and has a plan for our lives. This week on Renewal our host, Dr. Gene Getz is talking with a husband and wife--two people who grew up in Mainland China believing there is no God! They were atheists. But then they came to America, met some Christians--and the husband began to simply read the Bible. They asked God--if He existed--to answer a very specific prayer. God did answer that prayer. Join us this week for this incredible story--two former atheists who are now leading other atheists to a faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We talk with our friends about Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius and other religious figures without fear. Why not Jesus? Perhaps it's because He claimed to be the Son of God and we know people will react differently when we mention Him. This week on Renewal we've invited a skeptic turned true believer as our special guest. Join our host, Dr. Gene Getz, and his guest--a former hard-core skeptic--as they tell you how to talk with those who do not believe.

This week on Renewal we will be unfolding a marvelous story of how God redeems people from a life of sin--and then uses them to help others avoid the same pitfalls. You will hear an incredible story of family abuse--but you'll also hear about God's saving grace. When Paul wrote to the Galatians, he described in rather graphic detail the acts of the sinful nature. What he painted with these words is not a pretty picture, but they are a reality--even in our culture today. This couple survived the evil in this world to become a dynamic witness together of God's grace in spite of their past.

In fact, he virtually ignored them...and it got him--and her into serious trouble. Sound familiar?

This week you will hear from a husband who violated this principle in Scripture--for nearly twenty years in his marriage--but when he began to practice what Peter taught, it changed his life, his wife's life--and his marriage.
